Post Card from the Eastern Shore

The rich loam of flat land
Rt. 13 so straight
you can see all the way to Delaware

a red orange sun drops
over soybean fields growing
russet coated whitetails

Mail pouch barns and picket fences,
in every yard magnolias
and a maple wearing an old rope swing

Bonfires on the beach
guitars and roasted marshmallows …
wish you were here.
